Part of Theo Fennell's ongoing mission to support and nurture up and coming masters of jewellery design, this Pyramid Opening Ring is made from 18ct White Gold and features a 3.48ct Emerald Cut Green Tourmaline. It is one of five unique pieces designed by talented Central Saint Martins students and handcrafted by the country's leading craftsmen in our Chelsea workshop.
“In my ring the stone is deliberately hidden by metal flaps, the Green Tourmaline is waiting to be revealed and comes as a surprise when the flaps open. The work of the photographer Vivian Maier was the inspiration and starting point of my collection. Her presence in the self-portraits is discovered indirectly through shadows, mirror games or reflections. Inspired by this visual trickery I gradually developed ideas about the concept of camouflage. I studied natural strategies of animals and military efforts to disguise and conceal using colours, shadows, forms and I also took inspiration from the codes of Cubism. It is a playful, sculptural, and surprising piece.” - Tiffany Baehler.
